INTERSECTIONS 2024
We look forward to welcoming you to the Romanian Sociologists Society International Conference, Intersections 2024: Structures and Flows. Exploring Multiplexity in Contemporary Sociology (#intersections2024). The SSR 2024 conference is organized in memoriam Professor Lazăr Vlăsceanu to honor and acknowledge his significant contributions to the development of sociology as a discipline in Romania. The conference will take place on October 24 and 25, 2024, in Bucharest, at the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Sociology and Social Work (90 – 92 Panduri Street, Bucharest, 050663, Romania). The theme of the SSR 2024 international conference addresses the concept of multiplex sociology, in which the connection of theories and methodologies is accomplished within a horizon of multiple valences.
The SSR 2024 international conference (#intersections2024) underlines the importance and necessity of connecting various sociological theories and methodologies to more effectively capture the nowadays complex and dynamic social realities. Specifically, it advances the concept of multiplexity to indicate a research space that allows for the integration and coexistence of multiple perspectives and theoretical and methodological approaches, thus offering a more complete and nuanced vision of the social phenomena studied.
Consequently, the conference topic encourages participants to adopt and explore interdisciplinary and multi-perspective approaches that allow for a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of contemporary society. It promotes the idea that progress in the field of sociology requires collaboration among different fields and specializations to address the complex issues of the modern world.
